    Thank you for the tour, great shop and prices. At 7:55 on the Romeo y Julieta what is that on the cigars, looks like markings on the cigars is it mold?

      good eye, I noticed them as well most prominently on the R&J Linea de Oro Hidalgos. Your question of course touches upon a "controversial" topic. Plume vs. Mold. Many would say those white fuzzy spots are simply plume that has developed from oils inside the wrappers and is a fairly common, natural stage of aging cigars. However, others will say it is mold/and there is no such thing as plume.
      Truth is some gentlemen had plume tested in a lab and it is in fact mold.
      Nonetheless, it is indeed fairly common (even on $100) cigars like these and does wipe off easily. Most smokers are not too troubled by this but as I had said both opinions and feelings on this definitely do vary .
      cheers 😚💨

      @HabanosChris 7 месяцев назад

      @@habanonews I completely agree with leaf discoloration of course or mottled wrappers - but this may of been a little plume which also of course is pretty normal, the shop looks fantastic btw!

    A well known situation in France. I lived in Corsica about 15 years and my relatives always asked me to bring back tobacco and alcohol when I was coming back to mainland France. But unfortunately times are changing, even in Corsica. As you said, the price difference ils linked to an imperial decree dated from 1 811. The tax reduction, by almost 25% on the island, also concern wine. To be precise about how things will change in future, in 2020, the government decided to modify this rule, which originally resulted in an annual loss of tax revenue estimated at 26 million euros. A gradual catch-up, at a rate of 5% per year, will allow reaching, by 2025, 95% of the tariff established in mainland France. As a result, on January 1st of this year, the price of tobacco in Corsica increased more than in the rest of France and many tobacco sellers are anxious. That said, after 2025, your Behike or any other cigar will still cost you less in Corsica. The price difference will only be 5% at that time.

    Wow! So much eye candy! but depressing for me how cheap cigars are in Corsica compared to Australia. We pay three times the price due to heavy taxes and small market economies of scale

    • @habanonews
      @habanonews  Месяц назад

      True. Australia has one of the highest rate of cancer in the world despite its tobacco policy. Politicians treat hign end premium cigars with cigarettes which explains the high prices. Be sure that the French government is going to raise cigar prices again and again…There is no way back.

  • @IamGio69

    It is interesting to note that Cuban cigars are sold cheaper there considering that France have a higher tax for tobaccos compared to a lot of EU countries.

    This shop is not Habanos Specialist why did you tell that ?

    • @habanonews
      @habanonews  7 месяцев назад +1

      You are right. My mistake. This shop is filling all the requirements to be a Habanos specialist with the walk-in Humidor and Cuban vs Non Cuban selection but it does not have the « Title of Habanos Specialist. It is treated as such by Coprova taking into account that it offers the biggest selection of cigars in Corsica far bigger than Le Havane which is the Habanos Specialist in the center of Ajaccio. I have no doubt that the shop would be a Habanos Specialist if it asked Coprova. I’ll make a comment about it in the description. Thank you.
